5/7/12
I finished my first journal entry.
I listed the topics that I may want to research and had to think about many the topics that I would list as my five topics.
I was a little bit concerned about the possible topics and that it would not fit very well, but I am very passionate about my topics.
Many of my inspirations were from my family because when I was little my family was very close, but since then we has gravitated towards other interests and many of my topics keeps me close to family members that are gone or that are still here.
5/8/12
I picked my final topic for the project
I am a bit concerned about how I am going to fit “The Road Not Taken” poem into this topic.
Also I am concerned about the narrative and how, in evolution, I am going to create a character and a story around the topic.
5/10/12
I am working on my second FQI Sheet
I have had some troubles about citing my sources when there is not just one author that wrote it and when the electronically published date is not present in the bibliography.
5/16/12
I finished my second FQI Sheet and I am half way through with my third
I, again, had trouble finding the electronically published date for a website
5/18/12
I am done with my first four FQI Sheets and found my fifth resource
My FQI Sheets were enjoyable to write and I was interested the whole time!
5/22/12
I started my narrative and I am on the third page.
I am a little nervous that I will go into too much depth, but other then that I have been having fun with the project and cannot wait until my writing is done!
5/28/12
I finished my narrative on Friday and I started my second writing
I am a little concerned on how I am going to weave in my repeating element, but I am on the verge of getting there.
5/30/12
I have finished my second writing(poem), with few tweaking issues still, and I am brainstorming ideas for the next genre.
For today's work, I am very happy with it. For my third genre I am thinking of doing a debate between Charles Darwin and the Pope about the theory of evolution and creationism. Also, during class today, I got inspired to try a list for one of my genre because I have never explored that as a genre and a choice.
6/1/12
So far I have finished three of my five genres, but they all still need the finishing touches, such as the repeating element.
I have finally found out what my repeating element will be and I am so happy.
At the moment I am a little confused about what the dear reader is, but I will go over the scheduled that we opened first to see if it is there.
So far, I know exactly what my other two genres will be so I think that I am in very good shape for the rest of this.
6/5/12
I have finished four out of the five writings that I need and I am a little conflicted.
This project has been tons of fun so far and I am learning a lot along the way.
With my fifth genre on its way, I am very confused about which one the choose, debate or liner notes.
6/7/12

For this last reflection, you should choose four of the nine questions listed here:
Why did you choose your topic? Are you still happy with your choice?
I chose the topic of evolution because I have always been interested in biology, and like every other kid, I have always wanted to become an paleontologist so I can find fossils. This topic was the perfect blend of the two. Due to the perfect blending, I am still very happy with my choice and I am still learning more and more.
How much information did you collect? How easy or hard was it to find information?
During this project, I collected a lot of new information that was very interesting and bundled them together into the different genres. At first it was very hard to find good resources, but once I figured out what to search in Google, it was smooth sailing from there on.
What strengths did you use as a writer in this project? What new strengths did you discover?
The strengths as a writer that I out to use was my laid back attitude and voice. Usually, the voice in my writings is very serious because I am writing a serious paper, but with this, I could let all of my thoughts flow out onto the paper. During this, I discovered that when I am writing a narrative that I am really into, I start to feel the wind blowing across my face, or I actually see the sun setting into the deep black sea. I have learned that I can then write a much better paper with all of these emotions around me.
What criteria did you use in deciding on the genres to include in your paper? What piece was the hardest or most challenging to write? Why? The most fun or interesting? Why?
The criteria that I used in deciding on the genres to include in my paper was really on what I thought was the most interesting and genres that were not used that often. In ordering the genres, I decided to go in chronological order following the geologic time scale. This makes the whole project more like a long story that is being read. The most challenging piece for me to write was the comic strip. I know that is usually really easy, but with this topic, I wanted to make it sound less scientific than the material actually was. That didn't really work. The most fun genre to write was the narrative because I could just dump all of my ideas out on to the piece of paper and I would not be going over board. Also, I have always wanted to write a science fiction story, but no teacher of mine has ever allowed that, until Mrs. Dabrush came along. Thanks so much for coming along!
